FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GRAND PRIX OF ITALY 2024: DELIVERY OF THE QUEEN’S RING

On Saturday, August 31 during the weekend of the Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix 2024 at Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the first edition of theQueen’s Ring will be held, an award desired and sponsored by the City of Monza and the Lombardy Region that interprets and represents some elements of the History, Culture, and Tradition of Monza and Lombardy with an obvious reference to the Italian Grand Prix.

The project stems from the objective consideration that the Riders are the modern Knights and the Grand Prix is the modern Tournament where the Knights competed and, like the Knights, the Riders best represent the qualities of courage, loyalty, respect for rules and are a role model to be inspired by.

The ring, during a brief ceremony after qualifying, will be presented to the Driver who will set the fastest lap time by winning the Pole Position for the race. The Queen’s Ring is the brainchild of Antonio Mariani and Enrico Squarzina and is the result of the creativity and mastery of Guido Guzzi Goldsmith Artist of Monza who, inspired by the Iron Crown, has included elements that recall the checkered flag, one of the symbols of Motorsport and the colors of the flag of Italy with precious stones set on the ring. The ring will be a unique piece made exclusively for this event and will be personalized to size with the Driver’s name and references to testify to the award.

Monza, Lombardy and Italy are represented by the Italian Grand Prix that is run in the temple of speed, the oldest active racetrack in the World and on a unique territory for History, Culture, Traditions that deserve to be known and become a destination for an unforgettable exploration trip.

The City of Monza, in its History, has all the elements to enhance this similarity beginning with Queen Teodolinda, an iconic figure of the Lombard nobility who is credited with gifts of great intelligence and beauty combined with her extraordinary skill as a horsewoman that make her even today an example of a woman who was a protagonist of her life and times.

The Iron Crown from which the ring is inspired has great historical and cultural value having crowned many Kings of Italy including Napoleon Bonaparte but even stronger, is its religious value. The Iron Crown, in fact, according to legend, holds in its structure one of the nails with which Jesus was crucified. A graft that makes it a precious relic.

This recognition will be over the years, a way to affirm the value of the Pilots and to let the world know, through one of the most popular sports the immense Historical and Cultural heritage of Our Country.
