NIBALI GEARS UP FOR THE MONZA RALLY SHOW

A two-wheel legend takes on four-wheel motorsports for the first time: Vincenzo Nibali is set to add star power to the Monza Rally Show, scheduled at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza from December 6 to 8, 2024. Vincenzo Nibali will compete behind the wheel of a GR Yaris R1 T4X4, representing the Toyota Gazoo Racing Italy Team in collaboration with Visit Malta.

The 40-year-old Sicilian is an icon of Italian cycling, boasting an 18-year professional career during which he conquered all three Grand Tours: two Giro d'Italia titles (2013 and 2016), the Tour de France (2014), and the Vuelta a España (2010). His accolades also include two Giro di Lombardia victories (2015 and 2017) and a triumph at Milan-Sanremo in 2018.

“I’ve always had a passion for four-wheel driving, and now that I’ve retired from professional cycling, I can fully embrace this interest,” Nibali shared during the press conference at the Automobile Club Milano headquarters, where he received his competitor’s license. “This new adventure is both exciting and challenging, especially with such a demanding car as the Toyota Yaris, as I’ve experienced in initial tests. Monza is a historic circuit where I’ve often been a guest, and it never fails to deliver thrilling emotions. I’m sure this year will be no different.”

Tobia Cavallini, team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing Italy, expressed his enthusiasm: “For us at TGR Italy, it’s an incredible honor to be part of this important project. Guiding a champion like Vincenzo Nibali in his rally debut is truly exciting, and having a prestigious partner like Visit Malta makes it even more special. The Monza Rally Show’s exclusive setting will undoubtedly make this experience unforgettable. We’re eager to see Vincenzo take on the track in the Toyota GR Yaris.”

The Monza Rally Show kicks off on Friday, December 6, and concludes on Sunday, December 8, after 9 special stages totaling 154.38 kilometers of timed asphalt racing. Additionally, the Masters’ Show on the pit straight—a 1.5-kilometer showdown—will feature WRC cars like the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Hybrid, Ford Puma Rally1 Hybrid, and Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid, ensuring spectacular performances from World Championship stars across all three days.
