Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix 2024 Fanzone Inaugurated: Success and Participation on the First Day
The first day of the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d'Italia 2024, with the cars still locked in the pits, saw an exceptional popular turnout at the Fanzone which opened at 1pm. Among the moments that catalysed the activity on the stage were the presence of AC Monza footballers Stefano Turati and Patrick Ciurria, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur and Formula 2 drivers Juan Manuel Correa, Zane Maloney, Enzo Fittipaldi and the three competing for the Formula 3 title: Leonardo Fornaroli, Gabriele Minì (ACI team Italia) and the British Luke Browning.
The monument dedicated to Michele Alboreto inaugurated
Thursday in Monza also saw the inauguration of the monument dedicated to Michele Alboreto (1956-2001), an unforgettable driver (194 F1 GPs and 5 victories with Tyrrell and Ferrari) to whom Autodromo Nazionale Monza had already dedicated the Parabolica curve.
The ceremony was attended by Nadia and Noemi Alboreto, Michele's wife and daughter, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Federico Freni, the president of ACI, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, the president of the Lombardy Regional Council, Federico Romani, the mayor of Monza, Paolo Pilotto, the president of Sias, Giuseppe Redaelli and the author of the work, Lorenzo Martinoli.
The monument, which is located at the side of the paddock, represents Alboreto's helmet with its colors, sectioned in such a way as to create a sort of red colored trail effect and the famous 27 in white. 10 meters long and 2 meters high, it is made of 5 mm thick steel.
"Michele Alboreto was a great pilot, an excellent sports manager, a colleague of mine as vice president of CSAI and I was able to personally experience his value - explained the president of ACI, Angelo Sticchi Damiani - . In 2021 we named the Parabolica curve after him, now the Alboreto curve, and today we are here to show everyone a work created in his honor”.
Ten dispensers for sunscreen: an initiative in collaboration with LILT
At the same time as the Fanzone opened to the public, the distribution of SPF50 sunscreen began through 10 dispensers located within the circuit that work autonomously thanks to a built-in solar panel. The cream is dispensed automatically and hygienically. This is an initiative created by Autodromo Nazionale Monza in collaboration with LILT, the Italian League for the Fight against Cancer. According to 2023 data from Aiom (Italian Association of Medical Oncology), exposure to UV rays is the most important environmental risk factor for skin cancer.
The Fuori GP of Monza, Biassono and Vedano al Lambro also started
The first day of the Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix also saw the opening of the Fuori GP 2024 of the Municipality of Monza, Biassono and Vedano al Lambro with numerous attractions for young and old fans and lots of music.
Autodromo Nazionale Monza and MONGRIP™ Present the Asphalt Collection: A Century of Legend
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza and MONGRIP™ launch the Asphalt Collection , an exclusive line of products that incorporate authentic portions of the original asphalt of the iconic Temple of Speed, to give every enthusiast the chance to preserve a priceless piece of Italian and world motorsport history in their own home. The Asphalt Collection was born from the idea of preserving and celebrating the glorious history of the circuit, with the extraction of the asphalt that took place in early 2024 during the modernization works that affected the Brianza track. This event marks a historic moment, 102 years after the foundation of the Autodromo.
To keep this legacy alive, the Autodromo has made use of the creativity of Giancarlo Medici , the Italian artist and founder of MONGRIP™, an international brand leader in the sector of motorsport relics. MONGRIP™ uses the best Italian craftsmen, who are responsible not only for respecting the highest quality standards, but also for preserving the emotional value of an asphalt that for over a hundred years has accompanied the triumphs of the greatest legends of this sport and the screams of hundreds of thousands of fans. This exclusive collaboration offers a tangible piece of the history of the Temple of Speed.
Each component of the "Asphalt Collection" is a unique work of art, the result of Italian creativity and craftsmanship, and represents an unparalleled relic of a limitless legend. The manual processing guarantees each piece its own identity and unique and unrepeatable details. The first products of the Asphalt Collection, two limited editions, were officially unveiled in Monza during the press conference to present the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d'Italia 2024.
The first work is called Pole Position Limited Edition , and transforms the original asphalt of pitch Number 1 into a memento, on which the greatest legends of motorsport have lined up in search of world championship glory.
There will be 1922 pieces, recalling the year of the foundation of the Autodromo, that will make up the entire collection, marketed exclusively by the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Completing the offer for collectors will be the Track Limited Edition , composed of 5793 pieces of real asphalt taken from all the most prestigious points of the circuit, as many as the meters of the track. This product will be available both at the Autodromo shop and at the MONGRIP™ online shop starting from 12.00 on Monday 2 September 2024. This is just the first step of an unprecedented collaboration: by the end of 2024, other projects and memorabilia will also be presented.
Giuseppe Redaelli, president of SIAS Autodromo Nazionale Monza stated: “We wanted a tangible sign of the history of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza to last forever. This is why we relied on MONGRIP TM to create true works of art that give a new story to an asphalt that has seen the greatest champions of world motorsport pass through. Iconic numbers and elegant materials mean that these memorabilia can be real jewels for enthusiasts and collectors. A collection that, thanks to the creative flair of MONGRIP TM and the collaboration with Autodromo Nazionale Monza, will be able to further enhance the century-old history of the Temple of Speed”.
Giancarlo Medici, founder of MONGRIP™, comments on this prestigious collaboration: “Monza is the Temple not only of speed but also an iconic place of worship of motorsport. In every inch of Monza's asphalt converged over a century of Italian and world motoring history, a legacy to be saved that could not be lost. Thanking the Autodromo Nazionale Monza for the trust placed in us, with pride and driven by the passion to create something unique, we have embarked on this extraordinary project. From today, every fan and motorsport enthusiast will have the opportunity to become a guardian of a century-old legacy, the stage of legendary sporting achievements."
Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix: A Celebration of Sport and Solidarity with Rise Against Hunger Italy
On the occasion of the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d'Italia 2024, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza is transformed into a pulsating center of global solidarity. Rise Against Hunger Italia, the well-known international organization committed to fighting hunger and poverty in the world, will be there to involve the public in an extraordinary initiative: a solidarity race to support the population of Zimbabwe, severely affected by one of the most serious droughts in recent history.
Solidarity Runs at the Speed of Formula 1
From August 29 to September 1, visitors to the FanZone, located between the famous high-speed circuit and the straight that follows the Ascari curve, will have the opportunity to take part in a unique challenge: packaging meals for communities in need in Zimbabwe. In a celebration that evokes the team spirit of Formula 1, participants will come together to assemble ingredients and create nutritious meals, directly contributing to the well-being of thousands of families in a state of food emergency.
An Ambassador of Excellence: Claudia Peroni
Supporting and promoting the initiative will be sports journalist Claudia Peroni, an icon of world motorsport and ambassador of Rise Against Hunger Italia. With over a year of commitment alongside the organization, Claudia, known for her passionate reporting on the greatest drivers in the world, will be there to tell the story of the deep connection between the values of sport and those of solidarity.
Four Days of Events and Solidarity
The four days of the Grand Prix, from the afternoon of Thursday 29 August until the race on Sunday 1 September, will be packed with events and activities. The public will not only be spectators, but will become protagonists of a concrete act of solidarity, demonstrating how the energy and passion that animate Formula 1 can be put to the service of humanitarian causes of great importance.
Comment by the President of Rise Against Hunger Italia, Alberto Albieri
“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the organizers of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza for their extraordinary hospitality and for believing in the initiatives of Rise Against Hunger Italia. It is thanks to their support and their vision that today we can unite sport and solidarity in such a significant event” declared Alberto Albieri, President of Rise Against Hunger Italia. “It is a source of great pride for us to be here with Claudia, our Ambassador icon of this sport, a much-loved face by all fans of the world of racing.”
A Small Gesture for a Big Change
Rise Against Hunger Italia, active for over ten years, continues to spread a message of hope and change. Through events like this, the organization wants to demonstrate that, by joining forces, it is possible to fight and defeat hunger and poverty in the world. Every gesture of participation, every hour of volunteering, can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Join Us: Together We Can Make a Difference
Anyone who wants to participate in the initiative will be welcome: the enthusiasm and contribution of the volunteers will be essential for the success of the event and to bring concrete help to those who, in Zimbabwe, are fighting for survival.
At the Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix, LILT offers the public sunscreen dispensers
Engines on: Formula 1 returns to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, recently reopened following modernization work. From August 29 to September 1, the “Temple of Speed”, one of the oldest and most prestigious circuits in the world, will host the 95th edition of the Italian Grand Prix. New asphalt, a more performing track and new pedestrian paths are just some of the new features that await drivers and fans.
One of the most unexpected is certainly the presence of 10 sunscreen dispensers that LILT and the Autodromo have decided to place inside the circuit.
At the dispensers, which work autonomously thanks to a built-in solar panel, the public will be able to stock up on SPF 50 sunscreen, dispensed automatically and hygienically. The dispensers will be periodically refilled with product to allow anyone to make a “pit stop” for protection at any time. The sunscreen inside the dispensers is approved by a LILT dermatologist and protects against solar rays, which are a risk factor for the development of skin cancer and premature aging of the dermis.
“Today we are stepping on the accelerator together with the Autodromo Nazionale Monza to raise awareness among more and more people on the importance of preventing skin cancer, and in particular melanoma, the third most frequent tumor in the under 50s – comments Marco Alloisio , president of LILT Milano Monza Brianza – We thank the Autodromo for allowing us to amplify our message, prevention is living, during the days of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Ten clearly visible dispensers full of useful information will invite fans to protect themselves during a time of significant and prolonged exposure to solar rays. This is our mission”.
“Being alongside LILT is a source of pride for us – said Giuseppe Redaelli , president of SIAS Autodromo Nazionale Monza – Making sunscreen available to fans is not only a very useful service, but also a means of spreading and understanding a message that must lead to greater awareness. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza, hosting hundreds of thousands of fans, must be a megaphone for initiatives such as the one promoted in collaboration with LILT, promoting behaviors that are increasingly attentive to safeguarding health”.
According to 2023 data from Aiom (Italian Association of Medical Oncology), exposure to UV rays is the most important environmental risk factor for skin cancer, also known as melanoma. This tumor occurs at a young age and in Italy it is the third most frequent in both sexes under the age of 50.
LILT and the Autodromo have chosen to install the dispensers because they are aware of the importance of safety, not only for the drivers and fans in the stands, but also for their skin. Even if the sun is hidden by clouds, it is necessary to apply the cream that should be spread on the body (including hands, feet, ears and scalp) every hour and a half or every two hours. Other useful tips for protection are reported on the dispensers together with the UV index, or the level of solar ultraviolet radiation, of the place where they are installed. T
o find out the distribution points of LILT sun cream, you can consult the map available on the Monza Circuit app.
Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix 2024: Queen's Ring delivery
On Saturday 31 August during the weekend of the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d'Italia 2024, the first edition of the Anello della Regina will take place at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, an award desired and sponsored by the Municipality of Monza and the Lombardy Region that interprets and represents some elements of the History, Culture and Tradition of Monza and Lombardy with an obvious reference to the Grand Prix of Italy.
The project was born from the objective consideration that the Drivers are the modern Knights and the Grand Prix is the modern Tournament where the Knights challenged each other and, like the Knights, the Drivers best represent the qualities of courage, loyalty, respect for the rules and are a reference model to be inspired by. The ring, during a short ceremony after qualifying, will be awarded to the Driver who sets the fastest lap, gaining Pole Position for the race. The Queen's Ring is the result of the creativity and mastery of Guido Guzzi, Goldsmith Artist from Monza who, inspired by the Iron Crown , has inserted elements that recall the checkered flag, one of the symbols of Motorsport, and the colours of the Italian flag with precious stones set on the ring.
The ring will be a unique piece made exclusively for this event and will be customised with the Driver's name and references to testify to the award. Monza, Lombardy and Italy are represented by the Italian Grand Prix which is held in the temple of speed, the oldest active racetrack in the world and in a unique territory for History, Culture, Traditions that deserve to be known and become a destination for an unforgettable journey of exploration.
The City of Monza, in its History, has all the elements to enhance this similarity starting from Queen Teodolinda , an iconic figure of the Lombard nobility who is recognized for her great intelligence and beauty combined with her extraordinary ability as a horsewoman that still today make her an example of a woman protagonist of her life and her era.
The Iron Crown that the ring is inspired by has a great historical and cultural value having crowned many Kings of Italy including Napoleon Bonaparte but even stronger is its religious value. The Iron Crown, in fact, according to legend, holds in its structure one of the nails with which Jesus was crucified. A graft that makes it a precious relic. This recognition will be over the years, a way to affirm the value of the Pilots and to make the immense Historical and Cultural heritage of Our Country known to the world, through one of the most popular sports.
Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix 2024: Every Driver a Tree
The “ Every driver, a tree ” initiative, promoted by Automobile Club d'Italia in agreement with the General Command of the Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Units of Carabinieri, continues on the occasion of the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d'Italia 2024.
Twenty trees, one for each protagonist of the World Championship. A reforestation project with the planting of native plants supplied by the National Centers for Biodiversity of the Carabinieri. The appointment is for Friday 30 August at 11 am near the Variante Ascari .
These are native plants supplied by the National Centers for Biodiversity of the Carabinieri: wild apple, wild pear, pado, wild cherry, Turkey oak, oxyphilous ash and field maple. The idea is to offset part of the carbon dioxide emissions produced during major events and tends to enhance the role of plants in reducing air pollution.
Domenicali and Sticchi Damiani at the ceremony
The ceremony will be attended by the President and CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, the President of ACI, Angelo SIcchi Damiani, the President of AC Milano, Geronimo La Russa, the President of Sias Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Giuseppe Redaelli, the General of the Army Corps Andrea Rispoli, Commander of the Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Unit Command, the Brigadier General, Raffaele Pio Manicone, Commander of the Carabinieri Biodiversity Group.
Objective 50 thousand trees throughout the country
The project was born from an idea by Paolo Cantarella, president of the ACI Sport Historic Car Commission, which has seen the planting of 740 trees so far in 2024 on the occasion of seven historic car races and the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Imola and Monza. This initiative is part of the national project “ A tree for the future ”, launched in 2021 by the Carabinieri Forestali in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, with the aim of creating a widespread forest, extending across the entire national territory through the planting of 50 thousand trees, all geolocalized, in a few years.
