ACI HISTORIC RACING WEEKEND: 50 YEARS OF MOTOR RACING ON THE TRACK IN MONZA

The ACI Historic Racing Weekend concluded at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. In the Campionato Italiano Velocità in Circuito Autostoriche (CIVCA), Marco Guerra and Franco Mischis (Alfa Romeo, Motor in Motion) won in the 1st Group; Filippo and Mattia Denti (Porsche 911 RS 3.0) in the 2nd Group; Giovanni Gulinelli and Massimo Ronconi (Porsche 935, Club 91 Squadra Corse) in the 3rd Group; and Vito Truglia and Gilles Giovannini (TVR Tuscan Speed 8 GT) in the 4th Group.

As for the other races, which enriched the program, success of Germans Mike Tornwestein (Porsche 935 TR) in the second race of the Colmore YTCC and Dirk Tornwestein (Porsche 935 TR) in the second round of the Colmore NRCC/V8/Proto. The third race, however, was the preserve of Switzerland’s Amanda Hennesy (Argo JM 19).

Mike Manning (Ford Sierra, RS500) won the third Colmore YTCC race.

In the Mitjet Italia Racing Series, France’s Romain Damiani (GT Drive Racing Team) and Italy’s Andrea Bistrot (West Coast) won the third and fourth races, respectively. To Hungarian Benjamin Berta (F3 Dallara F320, Franz Woss Racing) the Feature Race of the Topjet Formula 2000.

“We experienced an interesting weekend because we were able to admire cars that covered a time span of 50 years, from 1950 to 2000,” stressed Autodromo Nazionale Monza President Giuseppe Redaelli, “as well as two modern categories. Moreover, we were enormously pleased to see a large participation of drivers linked to our territory, as well as the presence of many foreign competitors. Credit to ACI Sport for setting up such a rich program.”
